Additional Site Details
Directions
The Reserve lies on the north-western outskirts of the town of Sandwich, next to the Dover to Ramsgate Road (A256) and south of Monks Way and the Discovery Park complex.
Access
The Reserve was reopened to the public in September 2020 and access permits are no longer required. There are two public access points. The main entrance can be found off the Monks Way just before it joins the roundabout onto the A256. Alternatively, there is pedestrian access from the eastern end of the Reserve at Stonar. Please note that there is strictly no car parking at this access point, which is an active farm entrance, and visitors will need to park on Sandwich Town Quayside, about 5 minutes walk away. A circular footpath, which gives views over the main part of the Reserve, is clearly signposted and way-marked from both of the main access points but please note that the footpath crosses rough and sometimes wet ground and is unsuitable for visitors with restricted mobility. There is a 'No Dogs' policy in place on all parts of the Reserve, except for assistance dogs which must be kept on leads.
Parking
The main entrance, with off-road parking for about 6 cars, can be found off the Monks Way just before it joins the roundabout onto the A256.
Facilities
There are two hides. The nearest public toilets are on Sandwich Town Quayside. The town of Sandwich itself has a full range of shops, restaurants, pubs and takeaways.
