Key Areas / Routes

'The Splodge' is the flash that lies east of the Cattewade 'White' Bridge and south of the river, between the road and the railway (c.TM099325). It can be viewed from the pill box TM09893260 and from the path that runs east from there. Once seen, you can see from its 'splodgy' look why it is so called. Green Sandpiper are there most of the year (except for when it dries out in the summer), Little Ringed Plovers are perennial early arrivals, and Water Pipits are frequently reported in April.
The "Red Barn" is at approximately TM093329. White Bridge is at TM099326.
